Execution Without Micromanaging

Project tracking, risk register, and change items — how to stay informed without being in every meeting.

The operator's cadence
01
Weekly: scan risk register sorted by score. Any new 15+ risks = escalate.
02
Weekly: 30-min standup per active project with portco PM. Not you running it.
03
Bi-weekly: review change items — any "high resistance" items with no mitigation plan get your personal attention.
04
Monthly: regrade every open risk with the team. Write the delta to the partner.
The Experience Bridge
Map this concept back to what you already know
In your past role
In any role where you owned outcomes but didn't do all the work yourself, you learned not to micromanage execution — you trusted the team but watched leading indicators.
At Red Iron Group
Same mental model. The portco team runs execution. You watch leading indicators: milestone hit rate, risk escalation velocity, change resistance levels. You only intervene when a leading indicator flags.
Why the skill transfers
This is the "trust but verify via instrumentation" pattern you've already practiced. The platform just gives you the dashboard.
Try it now in the platform
Go to the Risk Register tab. Sort by risk score. That's your Monday morning first-10-minute read.
